My Questions and Answers
Why did you start a blog?
I started my blog in the summer of 2016 as a creative outlet. I had to quit my job working in an elementary school library to help with family, but I knew I would need something creative. My blog has allowed me to continue to be creative (in a new way), but also be around my family when I really need to be.
If you had three wishes, what would they be and why? (no wishes for more wishes!)
This is a really hard one for me. I would wish that my mom didn’t have to go through dementia. While this has been one of the hardest experiences I’ve gone through in my life, it’s also been an honor and a blessing to go through this with her and my family!
I would wish that it was as easy to eat whatever I want at 50+ as it was in my 20’s. Yep!
And finally, … I wish
What inspires you?
There is a lot that inspires me. My family inspires me. Currently, my mom is struggling with dementia, everyday with her is an inspiration to live life with grace and love.
Also, my children are constant sources of inspiration. Even as teens, I am reminded constantly that we tend to set our own boundaries by our fears and not necessarily by circumstances, goals or our skill set. They’ve inspired me to set higher goals for myself and go for them!
Do you have any pets? Tell us about them.
We have a kitty, Halloween, who rules the house. She’s a long-hair, black smokey tiger. And, she’s absolutely sweet, when she chooses to be!
We used to have a hermit crab, but my son decided that it wanted to be a free-range crab. So, he (it?) it currently livin’ off the land, hopefully!
What is your favorite comfort food and why?
This changes, but currently Chicken Curry is my favorite comfort food. We’ve tried a few different recipes, and frankly they’re all delicious! When I have a bowl of Chicken Curry and rice it just feels all warm and delicious! I’m sure there’s some sort of scientific answer about dopamine or something, but it just makes me happy!
What are three things you can’t live without?
I will say my family because they are such a huge part of my life and my love. But, because of a few different family members dying, I know I can live without them…it’s just not easy.
Books are a constant source of peace, comfort and inspiration. It would be very sad to have to live without books.
The ability to travel (or at least dream about travel). I have spent a good part of my life exploring new places. To have to stay in one spot forever would wilt me.
Do you believe in miracles? Why or why not?
Definitely! I’ve seen too many unexplained (by normal standards) events to not believe.
If you could live anywhere, where would it be and why?
I’ve never lived overseas. So, I think it would be interesting to spend some time living in a foreign country. For ease of language and such, I think I would like an English speaking country like England, Scotland or Ireland?
Describe the perfect day
This question immediately made me think of that line from the Sandra Bullock movie, Miss Congeniality:
What are your creative outlets?
I enjoy being creative through crafty things. I have tried a lot of different types of crafty stuff, but I have enjoyed painting, making Christmas ornaments, writing, needlework and knitting.
What advice would you give to a new blogger?
As Ruth Soukup from Elite Blog Academy says, “Do it scared!” So, don’t wait for things to be perfect, just put your work out there and learn from it! If it doesn’t work, don’t worry, just try something new.
Thanks Again, Leah!
